Hi,
Damage to the hippocampus usually results in profound difficulties in forming new memories (anterograde amnesia), and normally also affects access to memories prior to the damage. Without a fully-functional hippocampus, humans may not successfully remember where they have been and how to get where they are going.
Damage to the amygdale impairs the acquisition and expression of fear conditioning, a form of classical conditioning of emotional response.
Hope this helps.
Bye.
