my Mom has a thyroid condition. My friend is a distributor for Usana products. So, I got my mom taking the stuff too. She said she feels better. Usana makes pharmaceutical grade vitamins. There are no toxins (25% of calcium pills have high lead levels). They dissolve/absorb into the body easily. If you want to check out her site, it is www.nutriceuticals.usana.com
all the best!
I am happy to hear that vitamins are working for you both.
I can't remember which B vitamin it is, but stress causes depletion of B. Something to do with the production of the stress hormones. So, yes, I agree...take your B's.
And D has been shown to have positive effects on cancer rates. Usana's fish oil has D added now. If you're a vegetarian, that won't be helpful news...sorry to any vegetarians. And like all products with Usana...no toxins. don't ask me how...but they process the oil to remove mercury and lead, etc.
Here is some info on the Biomega, or fish oil:
Omega-3 fatty acids are necessary for optimal health and wellness. These nutrients help support cardiovascular health, sustain optimal neural growth and development, and maintain good joint health.
Supports healthy blood pressure and cholesterol levels (provided they are normal to begin with)
**Contains twice the potency of many fish oil supplements**
Double molecular distillation process ensures the highest quality
Now with added lemon flavor so there's virtually no fishy aftertaste
Helps support cardiovascular health, joint health, and proper neural growth and development*
Here is some info I pulled from "Ask the Scientist" on Usana: re: pharmaceutical standards (I added stars to what I thought were the more interesting paragraphs)
If you look at the bottom of the Essentials and other product labels, you will find the following statement:
"Laboratory tested, quality guaranteed. Meets USP specifications for potency, uniformity, and disintegration where applicable."
This standard holds true on all applicable products we manufacture.
Pharmaceutical grade tablets and capsules must meet certain standards for quality as set by the United States Pharmacopeia (or USP). The USP is a non-profit organization that works closely with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the pharmaceutical industry, and health professionals to establish authoritative standards. These standards are enforceable by the FDA and the governments of more than 35 other countries, and are recognized worldwide as the hallmark of pharmaceutical manufacturing quality.
USANA voluntarily chooses to manufacture its products according to these rigid quality standards.
Our high standards of manufacturing may be the primary factor that separates USANA from other nutritional supplement companies. In 1994, the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA) was enacted by the United States Congress. Within this act, Nutritional Supplements were reclassified from "food" status to a new category called "Dietary Supplements" (DS). Because of DSHEA, certain changes were made to regulate dietary supplements differently than food. The first noticeable change effected the way DS were labeled. The "Nutritional Facts" panel seen on foods was changed to a "Supplement Facts" panel on DS. You may notice DS labels do not declare calories, fat, carbohydrates, or proteins. Dietary supplements do, however, declare nutrient values for vitamins, minerals, herbs, etc.
The second change allowed dietary supplement makers to include health claims (normally associated with drugs) that were not permitted for foods. For example, the FDA originally approved only 4 health claims for foods (including the link between high fiber and a reduction in cancer risk, calcium and osteoporosis, etc.) Under DSHEA, dietary supplement products could extend health claims in the area of structure/function (i.e. vitamin E nutritionally supports good ca
