complex ovarian cyst attached to bladder

by tkjkmom, Nov 29, 2007 12:14PM
I am a 36 yo woman.  I have had 4 c sections: 1st on went fine, 2nd resulted in a postpartum hemorrhage 2 1/2 weeks after delivery which was controlled with D&C and meds& packing uterus, 3rd placental abruption otherwise fine, 4th (16 months ago, with tubal ligation)--postop uterine severe severe hemorrhage which resulted in a vertical incision and total abdominal hysterectomy and time in the ICU.  I kept only my left ovary (this was July 26 2006).  This past April I had a 7 cm complex hemorrhagic ovarian cyst removed laparoscopically from that ovary--it grew from 3.5 to 7 cm over 3 or 4 months.  Now I just found out I have another complex hemorrhagic debris filled three chambered cyst on that ovary (my only ovary)  that is already 8.5 cm fills the entire ovary and looks "suspicious".  I was told I had a 5% chance it might be malignant--95% it is benign.   My bloodwork and CA 125 were within normal limits.  I have alot of pelvic and bladder pressure.  I was also told at the laparoscopy in April that the remainder of my ovary was adhered to my bladder.  I obviously would want to keep the ovary and just have the cyst removed because otherwise I will be in surgical menopause.  Then again I wouldn't want to risk spreading cancer if its malignant.  What is your impression of cyst removal vs. ovary removal.  What are the risks of removing the whole ovary with it being attached to my bladder?  Do you think the ovary will just keep producing these huge cysts if I kept it anyway?  What are your thoughts on Laparoscopy vs laparotomy?  Ul

Thanks
