Large ovarian cyst

Since I was about 14 I always got cyst on my overies and sometimes they were painful. Recently, I had sever pain on my right side and went to the doc he had some test ran and found a cyst on my uterus, (ih ave a hard time understanding him) and it was 3mm. He said it appered to be filled with blood. I was to go for a follow up to see if it is any larger or went away. Between visits I went back for a sinus infection and anouther doc at his office told me that it is on my overie. And as of right now I am in pain and scared because i am only 24 years old. what are my chances of it being more than a cyst. And does blood filled mean anything? I am on birth control because of it. Please help!
