Creatine and kidney function

by cjrodkey, Dec 03, 2007 12:21AM
Our 17 year old son was diagnosed with hypercalcioria as an infant. He experienced kidney stones as an infant, took adult dose diurectics for several years and restrictions were placed on Vitamion D, calcium and salt intake. Since approx age 6 he has been symptom free and 'cleared' by the nephrology clinic at Childres Hospital withou commnet.

He has grown into a 6'5", 270 football playing behemoth, and wants to begin supplmenting his diet   (during offseason weight lifting workouts) with Creatine for increased muscle mass.

The literature I can access is very limited in scope and generally vague.
Any professional opinioins on h is chances for renal damage?

Thanks.
