vaginal discharge

by dseawright, Dec 05, 2007 10:44AM
Hello, I am 29 and  have a yellowish discharge that has been ongoing for a year now.  I have been to several different doctors to try and cure this but no luck. I have gotten diagnosis of BV, Cervicitis and the latest low estrogen and high ph.  I have been on antibiotics, z-pak and most currently estrogen cream-estriodal.  I have taken several different meds, probably all the ones available for this type of issue.  I have had 3 pap smears during this a one year time frame and all has come back normal..my current doctor tells me I look great on paper but we know that there is definately an issue..we just cant figure out what it is..I see her again in one week.  Three years ago I had some sort of tumor on my ovaries which went away on its own and so thoughts of cervical cancer always stay in my head..I know that the pap tests have come back normal, but is there a chance it could be cervical cancer?  I am a Medical assistant and know of the blood test that can be performed to detect this.  I have brought it up a few times and the doctors just dismiss my concern of this..what are you suggestions on what this can be or what can be done?  I would appreciate anything you have to offer, Im just tired of this problem, it is affecting my sex life with my husband and Im constantly worried if anyone notices the smell of it..especially towards the end of my periods, it is the worse.

Hi.
I understand what you've been goring through.
Aside from pap smear, what other diagnostic procedures were performed?
Cervical cancer usually presents with abnormal vaginal bleeding, often after sexual intercourse.  Patients may also complain of clear or foul-smelling vaginal discharge
If your previous pap smear results are unremarkable, may be an endocervical curettage or cervical cone biopsy is warranted.
You can always consult another gynecologist for second opinion.
Good luck.
