OVCA and Breast Cancer

by Jen Y, Dec 05, 2007 04:12PM
Hello, Dr. Goodman. A few months ago, I wrote in about my mother (age 63, diagnosed 3C in Oct 2005, Doxil/Carbo as a second line treatment) who was on tamoxifen during a chemo break. One month into taking the tamoxifen, her CA-125 began to rise, and she switched Gemzar/Carbo. She has recently undergone surgery for breast cancer. She is being treated in Taiwan and has not been genetically tested. Does the potential presence of a BRCA mutation make her disease more susceptible to certain treatments, i.e. aromatase inhibitors or certain chemos? Thanks.
