Not sure if this is what I have

by nitra63, Dec 07, 2007 12:49PM
I started a job in housekeeping three months ago.It involved doing a lot of floor mopping. After the first few days my left should was very soar.I figured it was just muscle soreness since I have never done that kind of mopping with a heavy duty mop.So I mentioned it to a co worker in the same department and she asked me how I was using my mop so I showed her and she said there is a better way what they as in the other housekeepers were shown during a class on proper  mopping which I was never shown, just went to my orientation a week ago after being there for almost three months.
Well,I started mopping they way she had shown me and the pain eased up some for awhile.
But then a couple weeks ago,I woke up with my left shoulder in such bad pain that I could not sleep. The pain felt deep and it was making my wrist hurt and my fingers tingle and I noticed that my shoulder was popping or grinding when I would swing it back and forth. So on my next day off I went to see a doctor, and she said that it sounded like it was due to over use and that it may have happened on the job and that I may need an MRI.So I told my employer, and she said that I reported it too late and that there was nothing they could do about it.
Any way after a week and a half i went back to the same clinic but seen a different doctor because it was not getting better after taking NSAID inflamitories, muscle relaxers and pain meds,so I asked him about the MRI and he did a test strength on my arms I guess is what is was.and he said the socket felt strong and that MRI's are very expensive and that I should just consider doing different kind of work and that the best thing for the pain is too rest and keep taking my inflamitories so he wrote me an excuse for the next four days off. So,what next? I have been resting and it is not getting better. He did not even tell me what could be wrong with it.So i have been trying to diagnose it myself on line.

You may have what I have on my knees. The joints have lost the cartliage and the bones are rubbing together. Mine was initially diagnosed with an x-ray then they offered me cortizone shots. Which I did't want because they only last about 3 months and you can only get 3 shots a year. Any way this started many years ago.I realized that while going up stairs they would crackle , I had no pain at that time. As time went by it got worseand the pain started and has gotten reall y bad. Which by now I need a knee replacement. I can't have one done now because of another unrelated ailment.   See if your Dr. will at least do an x-ray . That should'nt be as expensive as an MRI. Which I have already had done 4 times on my entire  body. Hope yours is not that complicated. (ibuprophen and tylenol) are the worst thing you can do to yourself . Good luck . cat33
