Chronic red and tender area in outer corner of eye

Hello all,
I have this chronic irritation on the outer corner of my left eye.

  It is a red and tender line that extends from inside the left outer corner of my eye socket  and travels out about a half inch down the outside eye crease skin fold.  There is a constant burning and raw sensation.  I went to the two separate docs and they said to use a otc antibiotic salve.  It soothes the irritation but does not take it away.

  I have had this on and off for five years.
Any thoughts on this?

It is the skin in the inner corner area (where the two eyelids meet) and outside of the outer corner of my left eye.  The eye always waters out of that corner also.  The dermatologist that I went to said the same as the eye doc which is to use antibiotic salve.

you're talking about the SKIN on the outside of your eye?
dont know.  but chronic skin irritation could be excema or psoriasis or plenty of other things.  go see a dermatologist.
