stopped dairy, thought it would do more?

by vanzant1129, Dec 09, 2007 03:24AM
I recently stopped dairy, and after 17 years of having acne, I have to say, my skin is much, much clearer.  But I'm sad to say it's had no other positive effect on my health.  I've had chronic fatigue for so long, and it's done nothing for my energy levels.  How can this be?  Obviously, my body wasn't processing the dairy.  Wouldn't I feel better, and not just look better, without it?

I am glad your skin is better. We do need the nutrients, vitamins, and minerals from dairy products. They are protein, carbohydrates, vitamin Bs, Vitamin D, Calcium, and Phosphorus. If you do not consume them from dairy products directly, then get them from other food sources or supplementation except Vitamin D (our skin makes it from sun exposure). To possibly help your chronic fatigue, there have been some research that it maybe linked to hypotension (low blood pressure) so the recommendation is to keep your salt level moderate (not low), increase fluid intake, adequate rest, physical exercise, and healthy eating. There is on going research in this area. Thank you for your question.
