In terms of blacking out when standing up, this is often related to a a sudden drop in blood pressure (when you stand too quickly, the blood pools away from your brain which can cause one to faint). I haven't heard of people fainting when walking from a dark to bright room - is it possible this happened after you stood up too quickly but managed to walk a little way first?

It was very comforting to hear examples of other causes for these symptoms; I definitely don't want any serious reasons. I guess my mind did jump to conclusions. Hopefully they will be able to help me out.
Again, thanks for answering. I appreciate your kindness!
