Anal-vaginal fistula

I had a total colectomy and j-pouch construction in june 07 due to chrones,i also had a illiostomy while things heal. Just after op i noticed i was leeking n after tests a anal-vaginal fistula was found. Its running through my sphincter muscles. my doc isnt sure what to do as he thinks an op would be too risky. I need to find some way to heal it as i cannot go about daily life leeking. I dont want to loose pouch as im only 24 and really really dont want to have an illiostomy for the rest of my life. My doc was thinking of giving me infliximab but is the side affects of taking that going to be worse than living with the fistula? Also i read something about using stem cells to heal it,does any1 no anything about this? x

You story is very similar to mine.  I am 26 and I have had a subtotal colectomy and a pelvic pouch construction and a reversial in Jan 05.  Sence then I have been having problems with vaginal fistulas.  My Doc performed severl surgeries in attempt to close the fistula, all were useless.  Eventually he recomended another temp iliostomy to "give the bowel a break"  Making a long story short... the 1st fistula was closed successfully but literly the day after the surgery another vaginal fistula opened, and this one is significantly worse!  My Doc now says that I can try Remicade but even if this risky drug closes the fistula, my bowel may not be healthy enough to do another reversial. Or, I can have another surgery, which will be number 10, and hopefull he can save the the pelvic pouch and find the hole in the bowel and redo the suture line.  Again, if the fistula is successfuly closed, the bowel may not be helathy enough to do a reversial.  Doc also says that i could just get rid of the pelvic pouch and have a perminant iliostomy which would be a sure way to close the fistula, but Iwould be a 26 year old with a perminant ilistomy!   I guess I don't have any advice for you other then to hang in there and that yuo arn't along.

I am very irritated at my vagina, there is no red look to it or rash, when i first felt it, it felt like a cut but there was no cut at all anywhere down there. Everytime i get irrtated i rub on it not itch because it is too sore. And then there was white stuff on my hands, it was like tissue i taut i had wiped too hard after weeing and left some tissue behind, but then i was having intercourse with my boyfriend and it was kind of stinging so i asked him to stop, and when he took it out der was a big amount of more white stuff, it was like loads of wet tissue but when i touched it it jus got on my finger and didn not drip like mens come? And It had a very strong smell of sick? And the room was covered in the smell? Can anybody please help me, i do not want to see my doctor yet until i have some more information, thank you x=[

That is definetelly yeast infection, get some OTC antifungals (e.g. clotrimazole, miconazole, butoconazole), that should do it !
