Multiple Myeloma

by jmike1_, Jun 15, 2007 06:34PM
My dad has multiple myeloma.  Luckily, they seem to have caught it pretty early.  He's receiving treatment at a very good national myeloma center, and after his first stem cell transplant, was told his cancer is in remission.  He goes for his 2nd stem cell transplant in a few weeks (really wore him down the first time).  My question is what can we expect long-term from this disease.  I know remission w/ this cancer doesn't last forever, but no one has really talked to us about what to expect long term.  I appreciate any info anyone may have regarding this.  Thanks!

Go to www.acor.org/mm and read the survivor stories.  You can learn a lot from people's experiences.
