advice on 6wk assesment in PDRU!

I have posted a couple of questions but this one is regrding some advice on stroke rehabilitation, my mum has been admitted to the pdru unit in the southern general, Glasgow, we have been told she is in for a 6 week assesment as she is paralysed down her left side due to a massive stroke and brain anurism. We have been advised that after the 6 weeks are over that they will make a decision as to whether to continue with rehabilitation as she may not make any progress, so basically after this time she could be discharged and could be left in this position permanantly. Sheltered housing has been suggested and my mum being a very independant person is absolutly horrified at this suggestion, im praying that her results are good but has anyone any advice i things do not go in her favour. Any advice is appreciated take care
