Could it be Ovarian Cancer?

by Jessi422, Dec 14, 2007 04:01PM
I was had an abnormal pap smear in March of 2006. After the biopsy my doctor wanted to do a cone biopsy. So in November of 2006  I had the cone biopsy and a tubal ligation. The following month I had yet another abnormal pap. (Cervical cancer was found) December I had a partial hystorectomy. in which th doctor removed my remaining cervix and also my uterus. He left my ovaries. I never went back to the doctor for my follow up appointment after my hystorectomy.
A couple weeks ago i started to get really bad cramps, lower back ache. I urinate all the time. Very painful intercourse. The past few days the pain has become more intense my lower belly is now swollen and I have this really intense pressure!!  I have had four children and it feels just like i am having a baby. it hurts to sit it hurts to stand and hurts to walk. Is it possible that the cervical cancer/uterine cancer could have spread to ovarian cancer a year later??

Hey there
You need to go see your gyn oncologist. If you had cervical cancer, there is a risk it could recur. the standard follow up after treatment of a cancer is exams and pap smears every 3 to 4 months for the first 2 years after treatment . then every 6 months. At 5 years after therapy, if all is well, we go to once a year checks.

Now if you just had a precancerous problem like "carcinoma in situ", we usually go to once a year pap smear checks after surgery.
