food poisoning and nose bleeds?

by zimmyzous, Dec 15, 2007 03:19PM
My Mother has Cancer for the 4th time and today she has a runny nose that is bloody. She had a treatment of Cyhmotheropy 9 days ago and believes she may be suffering from food poisoning from 7 days ago: Mussels from a Chinese resturant. She has had bad headaches, diaria, and has been vomitting on and off all week. She said her nose had bled like that before but not for this long. She also suffers from bad allergies. Last weekend under her eye swelled up as well. Any idea about the nose bleeds and food poisoning?

I am not aware of any connection of food poisoning and nose bleeds. However, chemotherapy often results in the elements of the blood that help form clot (platelets) to be low.  It could be that she is more predisposed to bleeding in general from her recent chemotherapy.
