tearing sound and burning in left buttock/hip

RE: which ligament and how to rehabilitate injury?
I was stretching my leg over my head while holding it against the floor and I suddenly heard a tearing sound and a slight burning. It now hurts deep in the buttock if I extend the leg in open position, and it seems to be weaker, also. My yoga teacher said it is a torn ligament, and that I should rest it. The question i have is: Which Ligament? and how to rehabilitate this injury? I am staying in Africa, and only have medical coverage for in-hospital admissions.
