My hair is falling out

by Jenn1977, Dec 18, 2007 11:07AM
I know this is related to Topomax which I take for my severe migraines.  I have been on it before and it was coming out by the handfulls.  It took two months off the medicine for it to stop but my migraines came back severly to the point of me not being able to work.  I am back on it now but only on 25mg twice a day instead of the 50mg twice a day and my hair is starting to fall out again.  What can I do to stop this from happening.  I need the medication but I can't take the hairloss!!!!!!!  My neurologist doesn't know what to tell me.  He suggested I try taking extra Selenium and Biotin along with my prenatal vitamins but he didn't know what else to tell me.

There has got to be some way to get this to stop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If they are certain that it is related to the medication, the real question becomes what is the value of that medication t your quality of life.   Personally, I would ask the neurologist about other medication options for the migraines, but then the problem becomes will the migraine relief be the same.   Sorry, I'm not more helpful.   You might want to try posting in the other forums as well.
