Sphincterotomy and internal Hemorrhoid removal

by damifino, Dec 19, 2007 12:54PM
After 6 months and 5 doctors I was finally diagnosed with 2 chronic anal fissures resulting from IMRT radiation for prostate cancer and the no-fiber diet the oncologist had me on.  Last Friday I had a lateral internal sphincterotomy.  During the surgery, the surgeon said he cauterized the fissures and also removed a skin tag and an internal hemorrhoid.  Today is day 5 since the surgery and I am in constant pain.  The surgeon prescribed percoset for pain but they make me feel a little nauseous and really didn't stop the pain so I am trying Advil liqui-gels, Excedrin and basically anything in my medicine cabinet to stop the pain.  Nothing is working.  Is this supposed to be this painful?    I didn't think pain could get worse than when I was suffering with the fissures but this pain is unrelenting even at night so I can't sleep.
