Valve Problems after Surgery

My dad just went through bypass surgery 2 months ago.  The surgeon repaired 7 arteries.  Since then his blood pressure has been up and down, but mostly up.  There have been some changes to his meds, but nothing is really working.  He just found out the results of an eco.  and he was told that he had leaky valves.  The dr. office told him that they would see him at his next appointment in three weeks to discuss it.  Of course, after going through such a major surgery, my dad is very cautious and nervous about his future.  Now with this news, without much explanation, he is very worried and nervous about another invasive surgery.  Are leaky valves common after bypass surgery?  Is there a reason why the doctor would not want to meet with him before his next appointment?  My dad is thinking nothing can be done and that is why the doctors are waiting???
