oral sex exposure

I have had unprotected oral sex with a prostitute 24 days ago. I took an HIV test 6 days later... obviously it came up negative. 7 days later from the exposure however I got a massive headache and I had to go to the emergency room. They took blood tests, a sample from my spinal fluid and all came back ok. Doctor mentioned that white blood cells seemed a little high but nothing to be concerned. In the meantime I got a cold (not flu like) two weeks ago and my doctor gave me Zithromax. I am off the Zithromax and today I just saw about 6-7 red spots spread all over the roof of my mouth. As it is probably too early to get an accurate HIV test result I wanted to know if these red spots are a bad sign of what's coming my way. The spots look like broken blood vessels and they are pretty much spread all over not in one spot.  I am very scared as, taking the antibiotics, I would assume that my immune system would be stronger than normal, why would these spots appear if not for actually a serious disease. What are these spots !!!

1. Is it possible that I am infected looking at the above facts?

2.How early and how much longer should I wait until I could take a conclusive test? I am 24 days away now.

I sincerely appreciate your answer.

Thank you.

Your risk is low, even with the symptoms you describe.  Oral sex is very, very low risk for HIV transmission--less than 1 in 10,000.  One of the things we tell people most on this site is that symptoms are not a good way to tell if someone has HIV- they are rarely due to HIV and faar, far more likely to be due to a plain old, usual viral infection.  You are right that at 6 days, the blood test results do not mean much.  At four weeks 85-90% of people who have caught HIV will have positive blood tests and by three months over 99% of all blood tests for HIV that are going to become positive will be.

If you ask me, you do not need to be tested.  If you feel you must, then you have something to go by above.  It is far more likely that your recent symptoms are due to something other than HIV or any other STD.

Good luck.  EWH

Thank you for your time and the through reply. I will schedule a mouth doctor to actually take a sample of the rashes in my mouth. Maybe that will help. I was just concerned through the fact that I already took a dose of antibiotics for my cold but these spots still appeared 3 days after i finished the whole treatment. Shouldn't this be a sign that it is something stronger than just a simple viral infection? I also feel that there is some small irritation on the my foreskin and also some faint red spots on my penis. What can I say - I am pretty freaked out at the moment. Thank you for everything. I deeply regret what I did and I plan on seeking help with a psychiatrist.

I forgot to mention that for the past week I have been feeling some tingling in my tongue and roof of my moth but made nothing of it. Was mostly looking to see if there is something on my tongue until I actually saw the red spots on the roof of my mouth. I feel tingling maybe with some numbness. Thank you.
