Meningioma on first MRI, Astrocytoma on Second and MRI 3 says NO!! HELP

by blondie1216, Dec 19, 2007 09:40PM
I was wondering if anyone could help me find the answer to my right sided pain, weakness, and abnormal symptoms?
It started off with my back mostly and then I noticed pain in my right eye with slight pupillary differences and right side face pain. Oddly enough my chiroprator noticed my uvula was deviated and that is where it began. I was referred to a Neurologist who briefly listened to me, and checked a few things. He ordered a MRI and found a 1.2 cm extraaxial enhancing mass near the vertex just left of the midline consistent with a meningioma.

He didn't feel like this meningioma would be causing this pain, and pretty much dismissed it altogether. After a year of continued pain and many new symptoms (right sided throat pain, some blurry vision, more pain in my back, shoulder, leg, ankle all right sided, memory loss, hearing changes). I decided to try for a second opinion. The second opinion stated:
1. A 1.4 x 0.8 cm ill defined mass like enhancement in the right paracentral and lateral portion of the medulla with typical appearance of a low grade astrocytoma.
2. Again a 1.4 cm Meningioma in the left paracentral medial region of the vertex.
So, I was sent to a second Neurologist that found this MRI reading odd, but ordered a 3rd MRI with a stronger magnet. He stated he personally read it himself. and found nothing in the medulla; however, the radiologist stated something more than nothing.
1. No definate evidence for a abnormal mass or enhancing lesion involving the visualized portions of the brainstem given minimal degree of pulsation artifact. Very slight minimally asymmetric right convexity however noted which is of doubtful clinical significance.
DOES THIS REALLY MEAN ANYTHING?
I have also seen a Pain Specialist due to findings in the Cervical spine. He believes that there is a bigger picture to all this, "Central Pain" not just the problems stated above. (Mild degenerative disc changes at C3-C4, C4-C5, and C5-C6 with generalized thickening of the posterior longitudinal ligament and contiguous posterior disc bulges at these levels causing slight compromise of the AP diameter at the canal. With a superimposed right paracentral herniation at c4-c5 slightly encroaching the right anterior aspect of the spinal cord.) I have had 2 C5 epideral injections with mild improvement.

I just need someone to help me find some TRUE answers. It seems like slowly I am getting different pieces of this puzzle, but no RIGHT answers. I am not feeling better, but worse. I was just hoping someone can help me find answers. I have spent so much money getting MRI's to find answers, and I know that the answers lie in them, but I can't seem to get anyone to look completely.
