STRANGE BREATHING AND COUGHING

by rukkus187, Dec 22, 2007 07:31PM
Hii posted a question before but no one replied so im trying again..

My name is steve i am 20 years old im 5'9" and 145 lbs. I was diagnosed with panic disorder and anxiety one day when i was waking up in the middle of the night with my heart beating extremely fast, short of breath and shaking.. i went to the hospital and i had a EKG a chest xray and a chest CT (cat scan of the chest) they said my lungs and heart were normal and i have no clots or anything like that.. then i went to my primary care doctor he also diagnosed me with anxiety.. so im taking welbutrin, citalopram, trazodone, and xanax for when i have a serious panic attack. which i believe that i do have anxiety and panic disrder, HOWEVER i have been short of breathe for about two months.. I cant seem to finish deep breathes and yawns.. its like my lungs just fill up really quickly and i feel like im not getting enough oxygen but my oxygen levels are fine.. recently along with the "air hunger" I have had a lot of phlegm in my throat and when i try to clear it it feels like i cant.. and when i do get something up, its right there again instantly. My sputum is white or clear or whatever. now i seem to have developed a cough as well thats really dry and unproductive.. im really worried about this because i believe there is something going on that doesnt have to do with my panic disorder..

any ideas or suggestions?

Truthfully, it still sounds like it is related to your panic disorder.  If your sat is normal then you are getting enough oxygen.  Clearing your throat constantly/coughing can be a sign of anxiety or of gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD.  It is rarely serious, and can be easily treated.  Ask your physician.

To: Asthma
Asthma is a problem which has been increased with the amount of pollution. Sometimes asthma attack can be very dangerous it can take the life even. But mouth inhaler has solve the quite a bit. But taking some herbal treatment is also helpful for the patient. What a asthma patient can do? Take Milk, Turmeric. Mix one tsp of turmeric in a glass of milk and boil it for 10 minutes. Take this mixture when it is Luke warm, two times daily, preferably on an empty stomach. Asthma patient will definitely get some help.

Ask your doctor about the Welbutrine.
My friend has been sick for months, has been diagnosed with sinus infection, allergies, walking pneumonia, and has received multiple rounds of anti-biotics.  Last week she had to go into the hospital and they performed a lung biopsy.  They were concerned she had an auto-immune disease affecting her lungs.  She has been diagnosed with eosinophiliac Pneumonia.  "The eosinophils are the type of white blood cells that are present when you have an allergic response in your system. Its normally present in your body at 5-10%, ------ eosinophil count is at 50%."
My friend has been doing research on the internet and found that her symptoms are exactly matching many others who have been taking Welbutrine. The drug has been known to cause hypersensitivity, lung congestion and eosinophilic reactions.  (She also experiened swelling in her eyes, hives, asthma-like reactions).  She has been using a generic of Welbutrine since July.
She went off the generic last Saturday and her lymph glands have returned to normal, she's not having sweats and fever spikes.  Her  appetite is back  and she is able to take a deep breathe again. She still is coughing up gunk but its less now than previously.

Rukkus,

I have also been experiencing the shortness of breath and went to the hospital and had the same tests run, everything came back normal. To this day even after being on the Klonopins that I was prescribed, I still am constantly yawning to get a deep breath. It feels as though my heart is tired from being over worked and I am constantly getting headaches. I don't have a cough at all, but I feel for you with everything else that is going on. I just want to feel normal again. I don't feel like I have anything to be anxious about, except now all of the symptoms....

Hi Just wondered whether you have had a cold or any sinus trouble because I have had the phlegm problems since a chest infection/cold back in september. I am still suffering and have been given an inhaler and nasal spray (never had before). I too have been doing research and have found it could be either sinus infection, post nasal drip, allergies or even acid reflux.
I also have had a very tight chest and had severe pains just when fast walking. I wake in the early hours of the morning unable to breath and am totally fed up.
I am back at the doctors today to see if they can put me out of my misery. Will post if any new ideas.

Hi, I'm Chris and 41 years old.

Over the past 3 weeks my sleeping pattern has deterriorated so badly that some nights, I don't sleep at all (not fo a minute). I feel I clearly suffer Insomnia too.

It all began with hayfever attack which ensured that at night times, I am left struggling to breath. In the process, I lose sleep and become edgy or panicky. I have tried certain antihestamin (Loteradin), but this resulted to irregular heart beat condition. This was found  2 years ago when I went to hospital to check the cuase of my palpitation and uncordinated heart beats. I was asked to suspend certain migaine medicines and it stopped.

Recently, I have now noticed that hayfever tabs are causing this. Unfortunately too, chesty cough has just arrived and my throat hurts from excessive coughing 2 nights now. So as I recover from blocked nose thru use of Sudafed spray and arrival of rain, the cough is ensuring that I keep awake and  my sleeplesness is becoming chronic.

If my system even manages to lapse into sleep
