yHow to use the recipe:
Begin your detox with regular doses of Valium (or alternate benzo). Start with a dose high enough to produce sleep. Before you use any benzo, make sure you're aware of how often it can be safely taken. Different benzos have different dosing schedules. Taper your Valium dosage down after each day. The goal is to get through day 4, after which the worst WD symptoms will subside. You shouldn't need the Valium after day 4 or 5.
During detox, hit the hot bath or Jacuzzi as often as you need to for muscle aches. Don't underestimate the effectiveness of hot soaks. Spend the entire time, if necessary, in a hot bath. This simple method will alleviate what is for many the worst opiate WD symptom.
Use the Imodium aggressively to stop the runs. Take as much as you need, as often as you need it. Don't take it, however, if you don't need it.
At the end of the fourth day, you should be waking up from the Valium and experiencing the beginnings of the opiate WD malaise. Upon rising (empty stomach), take the L-Tyrosine. Try 2000 mgs, and scale up or down, depending on how you feel. You can take up to 4,000 mgs. Take the L-Tyrosine with B6 to help absorption. Wait about one hour before eating breakfast. The L-Tyrosine will give you a surge of physical and mental energy that will help counteract the malaise. You may continue to take it each morning for as long as it helps. If you find it gives you the "coffee jitters," consider lowering the dosage or discontinuing it altogether. Occasionally, L-Tyrosine can cause the runs. Unlike the runs from opiate WD, however, this effect of L-Tyrosine is mild and normally does not return after the first hour. Lowering the dosage may help.
With breakfast, take the mineral supplement.
As soon as you can force yourself to, get some mild exercise such as walking, cycling, swimming, etc. This will be hard at first, but will make you feel considerably better.
you do not have to use the benzodiazepines. you can use tylenol pm or melatonin for sleep you can deal with the anxiety without them, it is best as they are addictive as well. all of this can be found in a health food store. most can be found in any pharmacy. good luck.
Thanks so much..
Yes, this is terrible stuff, really, ANYTHING that takes a hold on us the way these drugs do.
I dont really understand Tramadol, but she took it cuz she had rheumatoid arthritis. She was always in pain, poor thing. So, tram causes seizures? I had heard that.
I know there are drugs to take for codeine abuse like suboxone or something like that. But is there something for tramadol? We gotta find out.
Take care and thanks for the kind words.

you hit the nail on the head. with the dose you are down to it is mental. all of us fear what will happen when our drug is gone. once you realize that your withdrawal will not be that bad you will be able to let go. your physical withdrawal should amount to a week or so. but nothing worse than what you are experiencing. ultram is very addictive. it is an opoid. a lot of physicians do not get this. it was originally marketed as a non addictive painkiller. it is not. just as addictive as lortabs, etc. trust me, if you stop now you will feel so much better this time next week.
You can do this look how far you have come your down to only a few .
how many were you taking at your highest point ..... There is some great help here stick around as you taper.
avis
welcome ,
Are you going to taper off ? I am concerned that you are mixing an anti depressant with ultram be very careful when mixing the two you really raise your risk of seizures .I have been clean from tram since sept there is a better life out there for you.

i 'hung on' for my sleeping to get better for so long (7 months) that i really did start to get crazy, thinking every day that i was so exhausted that surely i must sleep tonight, id get into bed very tired, sleep for an hour, then wake up, and lay there awake and anxious until dawn.
give it another few nights, if your not sleeping deeply and at least 5-6 hours straight i reccomend taking something that will put you out.
the seroquel worked well for me, but i believe there are a few medications available that will put a horse to sleep :)
get some.
Hang in there, friend -
This is well worth the fight. You truly sound ready to get off this "poison" as you put it.
I am not sure how much B6 but I just take a womans multi vitamin... CatfishJohn is manly enough, I am sure, to be secure with his masculinity and get in touch with his feminine side? Take a Prenatal vitamin if thats all ya got in the house! Whatever it takes, is what I say!
We are here for ya. Keep plugging away. You encourage me!
Take care

john, look into the supplements listed in the thomas recipe. they will help. the dizziness could simply be mild dehydation. i know this does not feel good but these symptoms are manageable. do not let the fear get to you. your addicition is messing with your mind. it is telling you that you need this to survive. quite the opposite. take one half your normal dose next time if that helps you mentally.
OH MY GOSH
Please please I am new very new to this forum. My family and I just buried my sister last week from tramadol/ etc seizure/overdose. This is NO JOKE. She was only 47! This is why i am making the effort to get off my little addiction of a couple of vicodins a day.
I dont want ANY family to go thru what we have just gone through. My parents went into her apt. and found her slumped over at the dinner table. This has been the most horrible time of our lives.
Please think about your loved ones that live and love you.
This is going to be the hardest thing to do, but you have only two options. Ending up like my precious sister or kicking this **** to the curb. There is SO much out there besides this addiction. It seems IMPOSSIBLE to "see the forest for the trees". But there is life beyond these drugs. We just gotta make a little clearing so we can remember what it was like before......
Please hang in there -

If you are down to two a day then it wont be that bad, Maybe a little discomfort for a few days but you will be fine! You will feel so much better once they are gone!
i would really question what that seizure was related to. you stated you use these to wean yourself off the other opoids. but you are hanging on to that last 2. you can function without them. you will most likely be extremely fatigued and depressed. that is common upon withdrawal of any opoid. we have all suffered from this when we detox. at your current dose why don't you just decide to quit. the symptoms will not be that much different. after you cleanse your system you will notice you feel much better, your pain will improve as well. the narcotics are making your pain worse, not better.
I just got through reading all of these posts. You are doing really good! avis is the pro w/trams. Have you done any exercising? I know it's a 4 letter word but it might help. I assume you're drinking lots of fluids. Supplements like potassium, magnesium, manganese, boron and calcium all help the muscles to relax and aid in sleep too.
You really are doing great.
cat,
wonderful you are doing GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i didnt sleep at all for 23 nights when i quit, and badly for 7 months, DONT FOLLOW ME DOWN THAT ROAD, sleep is so healing, i eventually went to a psychiatrist cos the sleep deprivation was driving me crazy litterally, he gave me a drug called 'seroquel' it put me out like a light bulb and my anxiety and depression are clearing up quickly. cymbalta, effexor and prozac didnt work for me, but getting sleep was a life saver (litterally)
im not trying to sell you on a new drug, im adviseing you very strongly not to go too long without good sleep.
google 'sleep deprivation' and see what the symptoms are,
all the best, stay strong with your healing.
LOL are you sleeping at all
you are doing it wooo hoooooo ... things will start to get better soon.

I do think that taking that mow of a dose you are only making yourself feel worse! I have been on them for 2 years and they are awful! I have to take them to be able to walk some days but you are SOOOO CLOSE to being free from them! I understand wanting to wait on the other stuff to help though! just remember that you are only taking 25 mgs a day! thats little to nothing! maybe just maybe you could just stop it all together! that way it will go ahead and leave your body! that stuff is only making the WD's worse because its not having a chance to leave because you are still feeding it just enough to keep you sick! hang in there sweetie ! It will get better!
Becca
cat,
you dont need the Lyrosine until day 4 or 5 you don't want to take it until the fatigue settles in ... You have tapered down to almost nothing right ?i would not be overly concerned about sezuires ...there was one girl that had a seizure durning with drawled CT off of about 15 pills a day that is dangerous......
if it is this bad ............ i would just ct and get it over with....what do you think????? are you ready ? trust me when i say your prolonging the suffering ......

The "Freakishly" way I messed up an already 'Un'Fixable back is I turned to my left and leaned slightly to drop small box in the trash. Weird!!! Soon as it happened I felt it 'Pop' and it took my breath away. That was around 1-2 and the rest of the day just went down hill from that... Just goes along with my other back/neck problems...LOL!
Glad I own a T.E.N.S. Unit!
I am Truly Saddened to hear this tragic news. I'll keep you all in my Thoughts and Prayers!
Tramadol/Ultram is very BAD!!!
It has changed me completely and the thought of not having my 2 pills a day scares me to death! I have went once for 2 days without any, after dosing down to 2-4 a day and thought I was gonna die. As soon as I got my 'fix' I was a lot better. There has to be something to help with these symptoms!!!
You hang in there too,
John
Thank You!!! It feels great to be free of the ultram. The anxiety meds and depression meds are seeming to start helping me out. It'll be great to feel good again!!!
