Crown lengthening procedure Throbbing PAIN

Last week 9 days ago I went into the dentist to have a crown lengthening procedure completed. This tooth previously has had a root canal done and is already prepped for a crown to be put on i.e. there is no back left of the tooth. I was in severe pain all last week and was prescribed vicoden and penecilin. 2 days ago my endo removed the stitches and packing from the surgery and now tonight I waited 6 hours from the last pain killer that I took and I am at the point where I am fed up with this pain and I do not understand how a root canaled tooth like this can still be hurting this much from having a crown lengthening done. Is there anyone out there that can offer some advice???

If you are still in severe pain tomorrow, call him or her and let them know. Sometimes surgery can take a while to heal, and you may be on the downside when you awaken. Sure hope so. If not, get in touch with one of your doctors. Other possible explanations for your pain are your occlusion (if you are striking the tooth too hard when you close), a split root, or perhaps it is another tooth you are feeling that needs attention. Bad time of year to go through this and for that I am sorry. Not much more you can do, though. Pain killers and antibiotics usually do the trick. Sounds fishy. Best wishes,
