Macular Hole

by Padgham, Dec 25, 2007 11:10PM
Five weeks ago I had surgery to repair a Macular Hole four weeks after having a Scleral Buckle procedure performed.  Now that the gas bubble is subsiding, my vision does not appear to have improved.  Am I expecting too much too soon or am I accurate in suspecting the operation has not been successful as the images I see above the declining bubble still appear wavy and distorted?

If the operation has not been successful what options do I have available to me and what are the likely outcomes.

Your surgery takes a long time to heal. After a scleral buckle and a macular hole repair it may take up to 6 to 12 months to determine the final result. Unfortunately the retina may be attached and the hole sealed an your vision not returned to "normal".
