History of breast cancer/ovarian malignancy

by thebandteacher, Dec 26, 2007 03:24PM
Hi everyone,
I have a history of "borderline malignancy" on my right ovary-diagnosed almost 6 years ago.  In September of 2005, I was diagnosed with breast cancer.   For the past month or so, I felt that familiar weird feeling in my abdomen, and went to the doctor.  They did an ultrasound and confirmed a cyst.  I am waiting for the doctor to call me back, but I am FREAKED OUT.

I hate being constantly afraid of my body.

All they told me was "hemorrhagic cyst with echogenic lesion."

What the heck does that mean!?!?!?!?!?!?

Please make the fear go away.  I don't want cancer AGAIN.   I already went through chemo/rads/surgery.

I wanted to have another baby.  I have one beautiful boy, but I WANT ANOTHER ONE.

I'm really scared.

Thanks everyone.
Love and prayers, Deb

hi there
I can only guess how spooky this is. One thing you should consider discussing with your doctor is genetic testing. If you have the BRCA1 or 2 gene, you should consider having both your ovaries and tubes removed now.  You have had two malignancies. You are at risk for more. It is best to consider the prophylactic removal of non cancerous ovaries now than wait until a cancer forms. I know it must be so hard to consider this if you want another child. Unfortunately, there is no screening test for ovarian cancer.

I am so sorry. It is so hard. please let us know what you decide to do
take care
