Phakic IOLs problems?

by honest777, Dec 26, 2007 06:55PM
Please someone help, i am a 28 yr old female who has recently had P-iols in both eyes right eye on 19/11/07 and the left on the 4/12/07 due to a bit of inflammation in the right eye after surgery.

i am experiencing night time halos and glares and night which make it difficult to drive or go out or even watch TV, as i also experience a shadow or a mirror image of the screen to the upper left of it.  Will this ever stop? does the IOL need repositioning or is it better getting a 'top up' laser treatment. it is so much so that i want to give the eye a damn good rub. could this be what is not making my vision 'sharp'?

my left eye now has conjunctivitus the surgoen says it should not effect my lens.  is this true? this is being treated with antibioic eye drops. yes i have a yellow discharge but has decreased in amount . today is the 6th day and the redness is still there just above the incision of the IOL, i have no pain but my vision seems as if i have a very fine thin white film across my vision. will this clear up?  will my bvision in this eye be normal again?

please, please help!????

I am assuming that you had Visian ICL or Veriseye phakic lens implants?

You need to be specific and not use abbreviations especiall one that is not universal.

What do you mean P-IOL?

Once the conjunctivitis clears, you might ask your surgeon for a trial of Alphagan-P drops to see if this helps with the nighttime glare and halos.  I would also obtain a very careful, meticulously done refraction to see if that helps improve visual clarity, as you might still have some residual astigmatism or other refractive error.  You might want to google in Randall J. Olson to obtain info. regarding his work on dysphotopsia.  He is a well-known expert in visual abberrations and dysphotopsia following IOL placement during cataract surgery (some of which is probably also relevant to P-IOLs - although, because the technology of P-IOLs is so new, there is not as much info. regarding visual abberations and dysphotopsia pertaining to P-IOLs in the medical literature as of yet).

Did you ever resolve the thin white film across your vision? I to have this same problem, the doctor says my pupils are to large and to use drops that will reduce their size. He did say it would take numerous applications before the reduction becomes permanent. I havent tried this yet...
