Sexual Behavior Questions about son age 13

I was getting home from work a little late, maybe around 7, and I walked into the computer room to check my email. I walked into the room, and my son, age 13, was looking at porn on the internet and masturbating. I later explained to him that porn is wrong, and how it doesn't show people in a loving, caring relationship. I'm just a little worried about the masturbating. Is something like this normal for someone at his age?

I think you handled it well. Just keep talking to him. Remind him that porn exploits women and as you said doesn't show a committed relationship. Porn can become addictive and can ruin lives and marraiges. You might want to remind him of that. Most women won't put up with their husband being addicted to porn. It's best to stop it now before it gets too bad.
You might want to look into getting a moniter for your computer to moniter every site visited and everything done on the computer. We use Spectrasoft. It's the best $100 we ever spent. Best wishes.

I just looked that up on the pc and I am totally thankful that you posted "SpectorSoft" I am going to get it for sure. I have a daughter 14 and a son 13yrs. Being a single parent and having to work they get on the pc alot with me not being here to see whats going on and I have been concerned about that.

Wow...I didn't expect to see the answers I saw. I started looking at porn when I was in the 4th grade [I was a very early bloomer], but I've never been addicted to the stuff. I've always been a  very good student, very athletic, and love helping other people, and these qualities were not in danger when I started watching porn. But the thing that helped me go in the right direction with porn is a little humility [no, don't make fun of your kid]. I was caught once by my family and they didn't say anything, but they did crwod around the computer while I was on the other side of the room. They didn't talk to me about it or anything, but they did make a few jokes about it later one, I'd say about a month later.

atlnino is right most people do feel at least a bit guilty when thinking about porn as everyone portrays it as a filthy perverted thing. though people watch it, it should be clear for someone his age to know that it is wrong, otherwise why would he try to hide it instead of doing that in public.

ban the sites from your computer it will . scar him for life.
