Burning pain after stroke

by juls456, Dec 28, 2007 07:14PM
I am 28 and had a stroke 2 years ago because of a birth control I was taking. Months after the stroke I started having foot and leg pain. Soon after the pain moved to my upper body. I now have constant burning pain in my hands, arms, and back. My lower arms feel tight, and my back is tender to the touch. I have been trying to get a diagnosis and have been in pain for over a year. The stroke occured in my cerebellum, so they don't understand why I'm in so much pain, or what caused it. Does anyone have a similiar experience?

Thank you for any assistance.

I had my stroke the end of July 2006 at 29yrs old due to my vertebral arteries being dissected.  Had lifesaving surgery...craniotomy and venticulostomy...and was told I am extremely lucky to be alive.  Most of my cerebellum was actually removed during my surgery.  My right side was effected as far as my leg/arm but in October....three months after my stroke...my left side from the chest down started having a burning/tingling strange sensation.  I am not able to tell the difference from hot and cold on that side and very sensitive to the touch.  It started with just the leg but moved up from there.  It is a constant sensation that I have just had to get use to....Have had numerous tests and even went to the Mayo in Rochester to try to figure out.  I was told maybe some sensory fibers or something were killed in the original stroke.  Don't know.  Very frustrating I know, but am learning to deal with it.  Hope this helps somewhat... Good luck!
