Hole in Heart

by Neena21, Jun 25, 2007 05:08AM
My daughter is 6 months old now.
Birth weight - 3.6 kg
2 1/2 months - 4.9 kg
6 months - 5.5 Kg
When she was two and a half months, our pediatrician advised me to take a complete cardiologic test because of the murmer in my daughter's heart.
She is not having any other symptoms still now. She is very active.
Cardiologist identified VSD with the size 6.5 * 7 mm.He advised to give her the following Medicines.
Digoxin .8ml
Lasix 40mg(1/8)  - 3/7 days
Envas2.5 mg (1/6) - 7/7 days
Mumfer
ABDEC
After following these medicines, now (6th month) once again we took echo test. But now also cardiologist is saying that there is no significant change in the size of the hole... He advised me to increase her weight.
Her current diet is Mother's milk, Pastuerised milk, rice, raggi, Health mix, cerelac and idly. And MCT oil 5 drops 3-6 times a day with her food.
Please advise me to increase her weight as soon as possible. Also please advise how soon the hole will automatically get closed.

Many holes do close on their own, though some do not.  I would ask your child's doctor the best way to go about increasing her weight safely.  Best wishes to you and your little one :)

My daughter is 6 years old and she has a Hole in the Heart.  The doctors told me that she has a congenital disease.  I was wondering why the doctors didn't detect it when she was small.  I always wonder as she grows older, her weight deteriorates.  To make it worse, she is underweight already.

And she will go for Echo right in July and not earlier than that.  I am requesting you if you could give me some information on what she should eat to increase her weight and will be cured or not?

I hope that we will hear from you soon.

Have a good day.
