I had a blighted ovum just four months ago...they performed a D & C on me and told me not to give up. Talk to your dr.

I am so sorry for your loss...I too had a blighted ovum..found out Thanksgiving morning, it would have been our first baby...it was horrible, the doctors told me nothing, I was pretty much left in the dark..I am so sorry...I miscarried naturally so I did not need a D&C...but it was still painful and emotionally scarring. The best advice I can give you is to realize everything happens for a reason, stay close to your husband or significant other...and remember you can always try again. Even though that doesn't make you feel better right away...soon the pain lessons and you start to realize you can try again...It's the worst feeling in the world, but time does heal.
A blighted Ovum is a common type of Miscarriage. It's when the fertilized egg implants in the uterus but the embryo stops developing or doesn't form at all. You'll still get a positive pregnancy test result and you'll feel pregnancy symptoms as well because your hormones are still rising due to the fact your body thinks its pregant or still pregnant.
Usually when you go in for a u/s you will have an empty gestational sac...than you'll experience blood or dark blood spots...than continue on to miscarry with blood, clots and cramps.
