Question reguarding past surgery

by Dar584, Jan 03, 2008 06:07PM
I had a trimalar fx of my left cheek in 1991 with ORIF with a mini plate and four screws near my left eyebrow.  My questions are when I get headaches I feel a lot of pressure and pain near this plate and behind my left eye.  It also hurts in my cheekbone a lot when it is really cold out.  I also have a lot of sensativity in my upper teeth on that side.  Is all of this common after such a fx?

Your symptoms are well known following repair of your injury with a metal plate.  I recommend you schedule an appointment with a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial for two main reasons.

1. To make certain there are no problems with the fracture site or any other reason for your symptoms.

2. To discuss the possibility of removing the plate.

Good Luck
