Drooping eyelids

by AnnaE, Jan 03, 2008 10:46PM
Drooping eyelids can result from multiple surgeries. Can a procedure/treatment make the lids taut again? Would this be considered plastic surgery? Would it be covered by medical insurance/medicare?

Thank you

Plastic surgery can often improve the tone and appearance. Rarely will it be perfect like the youthful eyelid. The determination of cosmetic vs functional (pay or no pay) is made by the insurance company. See an oculoplastic surgeon. Find one at www.aao.org

Thank you. The drooping in my left eye is also caused by hypotony in that eye. The problem will greatly improve, perhaps, if my pressure comes back (pehaps a miracle), or if I require a prosthesis (I certainly hope not).

Thank you
