HIV or HBV???

my boyfriend has just been diagnosis HBS hihg reactive. I am still very concerned about HIV, although I am tested at 4months post exposure. I have been feeling very sick for 4months, with fever, headaches and big migraine...but all people tell me I don't have Hiv although I have never heared abut oral and vaginal candida, sore troughs and swollen nodes as symptoms of HepB.
Please help me, I am freakin' out of scare and crying...all information should help.

thank you for your kind words.

i am glad I could be of help.

Get your hep b test and let us know how it turns out.  Positive for hep b is not the worst thing that could happen.

Forget about Hiv.  You are 100% negative.

I do realize this is becoming an obssesion and I do try to relax thinking all the hard symptoms I had are due to this HepB thing, but the fact they match exactly to....I think you can understand this kind of worry only if you happpen to live such a long time being convinced you are dieing.....even more quicly than established(5-10years) when I was not able to rise from bed. Thank you very much, you are so helpful to me in convincing me I should think optimistically ......

Hbv is hepatitis B virus. neg is negative.  pos is positive. asap is as soon as possible.

Hiv is human immunodeficiency virus.

sorry about my abbreviations.

I apologize.  I hope i was helpful to you.

Don't worry about Hiv, though.  you do not have it.

Look :
1)this HBV thing is not a result i must deal with....it's ok. i will just treat it and that's it
2)I told you sex is the last thing on my mind
3)I am not scared of hep..i only thought about hep by being the possible thing delaying seroconversion. I was right.Hope I'll test pos just for that;
4)Don't worry, I'll vanish from the forum once resolved. I do not understand your terms,I cannot read your posts. Still, I know everybody on the HIV forum.....that one is very familiar for me...every story and every medical Q seems piece of cake next to yours.

You know what you need to do.  Get your Hep b test asap and deal with the reult.

1) stop having sex until this is resolved.
2) forget about hiv.  you don't have it.
3) get tested for hbv.  this may be pos.
4) if neg, get the hep b  vaccine asap.
5) if pos, get treatment.
6) move it!

Well, thank you very much for encouraging words! I also have thought about odds having HIv after an 18negatiive result, quality Elisa 4gen test....I try to tell myself this every day. Now, unfortunately, this confirmed HepB problem feeds my fear...I do know that some people seroconverted later due to it.
As if the sex thing......what could i say? When you think about dieing every day for 5months, when you cannot eat, sleep or eat or even swollow due to candida and sore troath...when you cannot stand up due to big headaches and nausea.....whould you consider having sex? I"m only 22, I love my family, the only thing crosses my mind in not to let them down and die, i am their only child.
Would you ever consider having sex again??? ps: i am not so afraid about spreading hiv, if that's what you're thinking....docs assured me I am just fine.....i simply cannot think of such an activity.....for an year or two I think....:(((((I am depressed and still very scared. women in such conditions do not react well at sex impulses... do not react at all.....

IF your Hiv test is 18 weeks after your last sexual encounter, the neg result is conclusive.  If you were to test pos AFTER an 18 weeks neg, you would be the unluckiest person in the world.

Forget about Hiv.  You DO NOT have it.  End of story.

If you are already pos for hep b, the vaccine is not of any value.  A vaccine only protects you from future infection.  It is NOT a treatment for current infection.

There are several antibiotics used to treat hep B and are almost always effective.  Women seem to respond better to treatment than men because of estrogen in their system.

Stelutu, how many days as of today since your last sexual encounter?  You don't need another Hiv test but that is probably the only thing that will calm your nerves.

The result will, without any doubt, be neg.

I hope you will get tested for Hep B and deal with the result.  If pos, get treated.  If neg, get the vaccine.

Stelutu, don't waste any more of your time posting on this forum.  Get tested and go from there.

actually I believe I don't have hepC as long as my bf has hepB...i could not have catch it. i am worried sick tho about hiv, since these are the only matching symptoms. I am confused, I was told all comes back to normal in max 3 months and i have oral candida for like 3months now. Lymphs there, headaches for a month.
Jakied...very importand Q: is it true that if HBV, i will get 3 vaccins going and then test again to see if i am all right? My bf doc said so.
And I beg u answer about coinfection....Even you said it is almost conclusive...:((

Ok...i will....But you see, all this speculation is based on facts. It is true that cases are seen when HBV delays seroconversion even after 6months and also...you said a 4months is ALMOST conclusive. Please respond. Plus....in case HBV+, which i am almost sure, still treated with these 3 vaccines? SO i've heared....

All this worry and speculation is worthless.  Get yourself tested for hep B and C.  A 4 month neg from your last exposure from your Bf will be very reliable and probably conclusive.

If neg, start the vaccine progam asap.  If I were you, i would stop ALL sexual activity until you are tested and If neg, have the vaccine for hep B completed.  Condoms can break.  They are not 100% safe.

Don't delay on this.  GET MOVING!

i haven't any unprotected sex with him in like 4months. Yes, I have had many symptoms for like 6months now I have periods when I just cannot eat, I feel like vomiting, even if i see food on TV. I am still very worried for HIV, can i get big nodes and candida and headaches from HepB?
And yes, I stopped having unprotected sex with him. He has not cheated on me and it always was nonejeculation, but still...he had hepatitis and if it wasn't for me he still hadn't known. I am happy I had not unprotected vaginal with the other boy or oral ejac, but I am still very worried. He says he took a test early oct (2,5months post my oral exposure) and it was negative. But i cannot trust, since i have seen no test and i experience all these symptoms....

An 18 week neg for Hiv is conclusive.  You can stop worrying about that.  Your next hurdle is Hbv.  You know you are at risk there because your Bf is pos.

You need to be tested for that.  When is the last time you had sex with him?  The window perid for hep b is 2 weeks to 6 months with an average of 50 days.

Please stop having sex with your Bf until this is resolved.  If you test neg, get the hep b vaccine.  Unfortunately, there is no vaccine for hep c.

Hep b is serious but not as serious as Hiv or hep C.

Do you have any symptoms for hepB?  Joint pain/stomach pain/yellow skin or eyes/dark urine.

I have numbered exactly 126 days post exposure before taking that Elisa uniform II Ag/Ab .

No…listen:
I had one (1)risk for HIV and it was 18 weeks before my Elisa negative test. That was a oral non protected non ejaculation.
I am pretty sure about having HepB because my boyfriend has been diagnosis, but he has no HIV….that is good! The boy I had that oral contact with also says he is negative, but I don’t know rather to believe him.
Q: I am very worried about my 18weeks test being wrong because of hepB delaying seroconversion (i have just found out about it,no drugs yet). Also…I have not heared about hepB being so strongly in symptoms, like big nodes and headaches for a month…..:(

stelutu,  I am very confused now.   Am i correct in saying you had an exposure from two different people?  Unprotected oral sex is low risk.

From the date of your last sexual activity, how many days is your neg Hiv test?  If it is six weeks from your oral sex and 18 weeks from intercourse, then you are probably free from Hiv.

Stelutu, if I were you, I would call request a test at 1888-732-2348 and ask for a Hiv/hep B/hep C panel.  This will cost you about $200 but will be money well spent.

Please stop your sexual activity until this is resolved.  You are making yourself crazy with worry so get tested and then deal with the outcome.  I have a feeling you are neg for hiv/hepC and maybe pos for hep B.  I say that based on what you have said about your partners.

In all honesty, if you had a choice of being pos for Hiv/hepB/hepC, you would pick hep B.

Please get tested and move on from there.

well.....i told you. I am a strait girl, my boyfriend is negative as I have seem the test and the contact I am so afraid of is with another boy (oral contact, no ejaculation)...The told me he tested 2,5months post my exposure and he was ok, but still I cannot relay on my test as I do know about 2-5 cases of coinfection with hep C and they showed up positive at Elisa after 6months...... still, i know the Elisa I took - 4th generation, vironostik hiv uniform II, ag/Ab is pretty reliable.....i am worried sick in conclusion

You poor thing, I'm sorry you have such severe symptoms. Really don't know what else to say other than get yourself to a doctor ASAP and have yourself checked out THOROUGHLY in every way! No one, not even a real doctor can diagnose you over the internet. But remember much of it could be in your head. You are scared to death you have HIV (even though it sounds like you don't), and with that weighing over your head it could (understandably) make you actually physically ill. The best medicine for this is to aggressively seek out a thorough medical workup and get to the bottom of it as quickly as possible.

As far as hep C is concerned, it has similar symptoms as hep B during the acute phase (although not everyone gets symptoms). Once it sets in and becomes chronic it can cause some of the symptoms you mention, but on the other hand most people are not really affected by it (other than it slowly eating away at our livers). But yes it can cause a wide range of symptoms like headaches in some. For me it mostly caused fatigue and mental confusion which would come and go over the years (which is fairly typical). But again, it's rare to transmit HCV sexually, although technically it is possible. Although you should still be checked for it, in addition to everything else mentioned and anything additional your doctor feels you need to be tested for.

In the meantime try and relax! You said you've been tested repeatedly for HIV over a fairly long period of time and you're consistently negative. You also said your b-friend has tested negative too (assuming he's being honest with you). And as far as I know the rate of heterosexual transmission of HIV is quite low (contrary to what all the television commercials tell you). Unless you engaged in bloody sex or sex acts that are similar to what gay men engage in (I'll leave that to your imagination), it's unlikely you got it. All of this certainly seems to add up to a great likelihood that you are HIV negative. And again worst case scenario is that you do have HBV, in which case there's a 95% chance that you'll clear it on your own. And if it's a form of veneral disease, those can be treated and cured with antibiotics. And as far as oral and vaginal yeast infections, they're quite common and alone they certainly don't mean you have HIV or some other disease. Lots of otherwise healthy men and women get oral yeast infections and lots of women get vaginal yeast infections. They're usually fairly easily treatable and can be resolved with simple and inexpensive drugs. All things considered, things don't sound nearly as gloomy as you seem to think they are. The best medicine for your anxiety is to see a doctor immediately and find out what's happening - see a doctor, get your tests and face the music with bravery. Odds are you're going to be OK - take it easy on yourself in the meantime!
