I am a 57 yo female diagnosed with APS approx. 10 years ago.  I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a rad. mastectomy.  I am now ready to start reconstruction.  My plastic surgeon ordered a series of tests (sma 20, pt, INR/PTT)  My level for the PTT did not come out normal. It was not far from the norm (40) but she becamed concerned.  I spoke to my internist who told me that people with APS on Coumadin (I am) usually have a slightly abnormal PTT simply because they  have APS.  I would like your opinion please.  Also, before surgery I will go off coumadin and start Lovenox until the night before surgery. I know my INR will be normal but can my PTT still be abnormal?
