Ouestion abt, Medical Records

by junie37, Jan 05, 2008 06:52PM
Can someone comment on how Medical Records are handled in reference to supplying different Drs. with personal records. MY husband recently saw 2 specialists and had an EEg & MRI all withing a 3 week period and then saw an Internal Med Dr.  ( new to him ) while his GP had his records. We were given the understanding that at least the Specialists and the new Internal Med had his records at hand....... but seemingly not so when he returned to the GP who still had his records at his office.  I have to assume that for all these Drs to have the records in that short period of time, they would have to be copied and sent to each one ???  Frankly, I think some of the assurances of having them were not true.  How can a person , who has had a brain tumor surgery plus currently having diverticulosis, HBP be treated, even put on a couple of meds ( that he could not tolerate, 1 making the situation worse ) without they're records being seen ???  Of course, I have no proof, its just the way it appears.  Maybe someone can clue me in on this.
                                                                      Thanks,
                                                                                     Junie  37
