what is wrong with my son, if anything

Six months ago my son was put into foster care for not behaving normally while I was accused of neglect ( I was working with him continuously)  At home he does not display any atypical behavior except a regression in speech. He is not in ddd care. I am real close to the foster parents who are telling me that he is displaying signs of autism (head banging, severe tantrums, doesnt show affection, and doesnt want to be held or comforted) I have worked with autistic children in a special education setting for many years before this all happened. At home my son hugs, kisses, plays with his siblings with the execption of his twin sister...he is beginning to regain his speech which with alot of hard work from us as well as his foster family. He has regained about 20 thru 30 words and is improving daily. We both have taken dairy products out of his diet which he was allergic to since his birth at only 30 weeks into the pregnancy due to uterine cancer on my part. Child services is not providing any therapys for him so we are just playing a hit and miss game of what works. Is there any suggestions what we can do since nothing is being provided to us for him that would bring him back. Also my next question, is this regression or aspergers or classic autism?  I myself do not make friends and could care less if I lose aquaintances. Get stuck on routine and hate change in my life, and will try to make things work even though am told that it will not happen. Is my son just like mom or should I look into other therapys that we can do between us?

I am sorry but it is impossible to make any treatment recommendations based on this information.  I would strongly suggest that this child be evaluated by a developmental pediatrician or a pediatric neurologist to determine if there is a diagnosis.  Then you, or the foster parents, or the agency or all of you can follow-up on the recommendations made by the specialists.
