had an ultrasound on christmas eve. They said I have a hemorrhagic cyst on my left ovary. I have been suffering with left abdominal pain for a couple years now. i guess my question is can I just have the ovary removed.

Hello,

You should talk with your ob/gyn about this matter.  The cyst may or may not be related to your pain.  No surgery should be approached lightly and the indication for surgery should be clear with a clear goal in mind.  Someone who knows your medical history well should have this discussion with you.

Best regards,

Dr. Downing
