Burn in urethra

For about 10 weeks now, I've been experiencing a burning sensation in my urethra.  I feel it on the underside of the penis, around where the two sides of the glans start to join.  I've also felt irritation in that general area when my penis rubs on my underwear.  However, that irritation doesn't happen very often.

There is one, single location in this area that if I press upon, will give quite a bit of pain.  The level of the burn, on a scale from 1 to 10 (worst), is from 3 to 8, depending on, well, I don't know what. The burn does seem to be a little worse while seated.  I have no redness at the meatus, or in the visible part of the urethra, no burning while urinating, no discharge, and am not sexually active.  Just last week, after urinating, I did notice a small "particle" on the underside of my penis.  It may have come out while I urinated, but I didn't feel anything.  It was about the size of a grain of sand, off-white, and a bit pointy.

I went to my GP seven weeks ago and he did a dipstick test, which was negative, and he had no real ideas.  However, he did prescribe pryidium.  This did seem to help a bit, but I only had a two-day supply, so after it was gone, the irritation returned.  Another interesting note is that the cold really seems to bother whatever this is.  One day (while I was on pyridium), I woke up and the irritation seemed to be gone, but I went to a football game and sat out in the cold all day, and the irritation returned.

Just yesterday evening, the irritation was quite bad and I felt like I had to pee every five minutes.  This went away after a few hours, as did the level of irritation.  However, there was one time during this period, that after I urinated, I felt two quick "zaps" just at the inside of the meatus.  I've never felt that before though, or again.

Went to a urologist (twice) and he's going to do a cysto and possible D.U.V in 9 days.  He also did a dipstick test, which were both negative.

Any ideas?

if the pyridium helped, it's an irritation somewhere in the urinary tract since the pyridium numbs anywhere in contact with urine.

good luck with the cystoscopy, i'm glad you're seeing a urologist.  let us know how it goes.

I also noticed my meatus is inflamed when I have an erection, but only when I have an erection.  What could this me a sign of and could it be related?

When you have an erection, the tissues swell and the meatus will typically flare open a bit, but usually is not uncomfortable.

When you say inflammed, do you mean pink & swollen?  that's not abnormal with an erection.

Well, it's not uncomfortable, it does just flare open a bit.  I'm 37 and I honestly can't say I've ever noticed that before.  I'm pretty sure it usually just remains completely closed.  Perhaps I'm over-reacting (to everything) that happens in that area as I'm freaking out a bit that this is something really nefarious.  Although I really have no reason to be thinking that way, except for anxiety.

Thanks for the response.

You're welcome.  Have your doc take a look.  They can reassure you by examining it.

hi,
i had extreme pain during urination as well as during ejaculation. I had gone to a doctor and he diagnosed it as a urinary tract infection. And adviced me to do self dialysis. I did it once but dialysis is also very painful. I have been experiencing this problem from almost 20 years. And very painful days and nights are going on. Kindly tell me any medicine where this pain can go away.
Thanx in advance.
