Eyes

I am a 45 yr old female, and have had vision problems my entire life.  I was diagnosed about 3 months ago with the dry form of Macular Degeneration (MD) in both eyes.  I haven't had any problems with the MD until recently, and now have the wet form of MD in my left eye & dry form in my right eye.  I was injected with Avastin in my left eye.  I may need to have a 2nd injection - ugh!  Will the injections decrease or remove the blind spot or hemorrhage?

Also, I've read that the Hyperbaric Chanber has been used for MD patients with good results.  What is your opinion on this topic?

Hyperbaric chamber is NOT the way to go. Avastin, Lucentis or Macugen are the most successful. Nothing works all the time and wet ARMD is extremely serious.

It often takes several injections. The wet part can dry up but still leave permanent damage. Your other eye is at high risk.

Use the search feature on this page and read the many posts about wet and dry ARMD.

Be sure you are taking an AREDS eye supplement such as Preservision with lutein and a multivitaman and using daily amsler grid on good eye.
