Repeated pap test

by couch, Jan 09, 2008 09:49PM
I am 45 years old. A year ago, I had to have a pap test done a month after the first because not enough cells were taken. The second test indicated no problem. This year, when the nurse called 10 days after my pap test, I was told I would have to have a repeat test done in 6 months because not enough cells were taken from the (?) part of the cervix. She also said" the test came back negative, but the doctor wanted to be sure." Sure of WHAT? I plan to return in 6 months. Should I be worried about my health? Is my doctor competent? I really like her. What is likely happening?

The test came back negative for cervical cancer. I am not aware if they were testing me for anything else. When I go back in 6 months, I will specifically ask the doctor. She is very open and has never failed to answer one of my questions.
