EF 45%

by daddydog123, Jan 10, 2008 09:46AM
Hi,
I am a 50yr old male with no medical history other than past smoker quit 15yrs ago.  On no medication other than a 81mg baby ASA.  Recently had an echo done and wanting to know some info.  Here are the measurements:
RVID:  3.7cm
RA: 3.0cm
LA: 3.3cm
AO Root 3.8cm
Ao Cusp Sep. 1.7cm
LVOT diam 2.0cm
LVID (s) 5.5cm
LVID (d) 6.2cm
IVS (s) 1.0cm
IVS (d) 1.1cm
LVPW (s)1.2cm
LVPW (d).8cm
LVEF 45%

the RV/PA pressure was 35.4mm/hg
the RA pressure was 10mm/hg
the report showed trace AI, trace MR, Trace TR with the RV systolic pressure of 35mm/hg.  Trace AI, normal LA.  Mild dialated LV with fair LV wall motion and the EF of 45% as stated above.  RV function ws grossly normal.  Mildly dialated RA was noted.

Is this something that would be treated with medication to ensure my EF doesn't get worse and I develop CHF in the near future.  I have 2 little ones to look after and need to know if I should see a specialist.  I also had a Recent Treadmill stress test that was normal and had no changes on it.  this was all brought on by some near fainting episodes that i am currently getting treatment for related to a sinus problem.  thank you for you assistance.
