Normal mammogram, swollen lymph node

I recently had my yearly mammogram. Normal for 15 years. The Radiologist said I have had a small  lymph gland seen on the outside of my left breast. It has been the same for 14 years, and this year is a little larger. I don't know how small before but this year it is 4mm. I don't feel it or have any problems that I know of. He said my mammogram is perfectly normal as it has been. He wants to repeat the mammogram in 2 months, but said he is "sure" it is a lymph gland doing its job.  Should I be concerned. My mother was recently diagnosed for the third time although I personally feel it was from taking hormones during menopause.  I have had a rash under that brease the past year, am big breasted and probably get an antifungal or antibiotic for that. Any thoughts??

Dear favnanna:  Lymph nodes are often visible on mammograms.  Their function is to serve as filters and they will normally enlarge if there is any infection or inflammation.  Sometimes they will even feel sore.  Normal lymph nodes range in size from a few millimeters to about a centimeter.  Likely your doctor wants to repeat the mammogram to be certain the lymph node is not getting larger.
