Hi,

The LEEP procedure is usually done in your physicians' office and takes about 20 to 30 minutes to complete.Local anesthesia may be instituted while some physicians may opt to use general anesthesia when indicated.

Common complications after the procedure are bleeding, some dark discharge, mild pain or discomfort.Your physician may advise you to abstain from sexual intercourse for at least 6 weeks, to avoid lifting heavy objects, strenous exercises and tampon use .

It is a minor procedure that a lot of women has underwent with minimal complications. This should allay any anxieties regarding the procedure.

I hope this helps.
