cancer reoccurances

by dustinsmom2, Jan 10, 2008 05:20PM
In Sept. of 2004 I was diagnosed as having uterine cancer when I was pregnant with my twins. When they were born in october I underwent the first round of chemotherapy. It did not work. My periods resumed in November, and I will never forget the amount of blood there was in my life. In January they did a trans vaginal ultrasound and found that the endometrial stripe was 28mm and decided it should have been substantially less. I had a partial hysterectomy in feb, with the removal of the uterus and cervix. It was decided that the ovaries would stay. After the hysterectomy the ovaries were nicked and I developed a severe pelvic hematoma complicated by bowel obstruction, I needed six units of blood. My body was so weak between the cancer and the complications from surgery and so much pain that it was decided that the second round of chemo therapy would be done in the hospital, where the pain could be controlled, and the risk of infection minimized. I went home every 2 weeks or so. In April I was given a month to live and was sent home. I managed to pull through and the rest of the chemo was completed. In June of 06 I went in for my ultrasound and tumors were found on my ovaries, I again went into the hospital and had both ovaries and tubes removed on one ovary there was a two pound tumor removed and on the other there were several small tumors (all cancerous) removed. I am again displaying symptoms, but these are so non specific. I have radiation implants that were put in with the oorphectomy (never heard of that). I also had chemo for that. Now the symptoms I am displaying are a general lack of appetite, bone pain, fatigue, and just found a breast lump. I guess what I am asking is this all a sign of reoccurance or what?

I am so very for all you have been going through.  Can you have a PET scan with your radiation implants?

My thoughts are with you.
