I saw your question and wanted to repond to it.15 years ago i had a tumor, but in my left jaw ball joint. It was twice the size of my right one and still had bone activity. They removed it and thank god it was benign.I didn't have a prosthetic. I formed my own socket with use of it.When they leveled out my upper jaw, they used screws and plates while everything was healing. Now 15 years later, i find my self going in for surgery to have all the screws and plates removed because they shifted and are causing me great pain and headaches.I even had one work it's way down through my gum! My new surgeon told me that screws and plates made now are less bulky. They don't need to replace them, since the jaw healed many years ago.
