Complementary Medicine Community

This forum is for questions and support regarding acupuncture, chiropractic, dietary supplements, herbal remedies, homeopathy, naturopathic medicines and treatments.

WHAT IS COMPLEMENTARY & ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE (CAM)?
Complementary medicine is used together with conventional medicine. An example of a complementary therapy is using aromatherapy to help lessen a patient's discomfort following surgery.

Alternative medicine is used in place of conventional medicine. An example of an alternative therapy is using acupuncture instead of surgery for back pain that has been recommended by a conventional doctor.

Fertility

I have been trying to balance my hormones via herbs and supplements.  I also have a well balanced diet along w/ 30 minutes of exercise a day.  My problem is now that I am doing all these good things, my cycles have become unpredictable.  Prior to trying to become pregnant I had a perfect 30 day cycle and my period was predictable down to the hour.  I started using vitex, wild yam and increased B vitamins and then my first cycle was 36 days and now this cycle i had midcycle bleeding????  What could be happening??

could be the vitex and yam, depending on your age, etc.
i would suggest using comprehensive multi-vitamin/mineral formula,
and dropping those two and see what happens.

I am a firm believer that a person with a balanced and elementally harmonious diet does not need supplements.  Too much yam (or anything) could affect the body's balance.  I suggest seeing a licensed acupuncturist for dietary and herbal advice that is tailored to YOUR specific needs.
