by survivortom, Jan 12, 2008 08:01PM
Recently diagnosed Grade 3 astrocytoma in 56 year old otherwise healthy woman. After primary resection what is the most aggressive treatment possible?
When can chemotherapy begin?
How soon can radiation begin?
Any other thoughts welcome
Please help I am desperate

Hi Tom,
How are you feeling?
I can feel the positivity you have by your nickname.
After resection of Astrocytoma, patient should be started on radiation therapy.
Along with radiation therapy, chemotherapy can be planned.
Radiation therapy can begin as soon as possible once post-surgical recovery is noted.
Once all your blood work up has come back normal, you can start chemotherapy too.
Ideally it should be started as soon as possible after your surgical resection.
All the best.
Always keep same positive attitude.
Bye.
