Concerned--lung scar???

by rileyrillyson, Jan 12, 2008 08:48PM
I am 27 years old and have always led a very active life.  Recently, when I exercise at a high level I have had difficulty catching my breath, wheezing, and tightness in my chest.  My doctor suggested this was excercise-induced asthma.  He prescribed an inhaler, it has provided some relief.
I am concerned because my doctor found "minor scarring or fluid" in my left lung after taking chest x-rays.  He said this is probably insignificant, but we will discuss later after the effectiveness of the inhaler is determined.  I am very worried that this "scarring / fluid" in my lungs could be something more severe.  During college I used marajuana/hash on a consistant basis and am worried this could have contributed to the scarring and it could be a more serious situation.  I do not smoke and have not used marajuana/hash in a very long time.  Is minor scarring/fluid in the lung common???  What are the possible implications???  Thank you for your time.
